Anifilm 2026
May 5-10, 2026, Liberec, Czech Republic
The international competition sections included 10 feature films, 34 short films, 35 student films, 30 music videos, 24 abstract and non-narrative films and 9 VR films. In addition, 17 video games and 12 student games competed to gain the festival’s recognition.
The six-day festival offered a variety of film, music, and exhibition programmes that took place alongside the competition sections. Anifilm 2026 invited audiences into a world of myths and legends.
The theme of myths and legends also permeated other programme sections, such as Classics Rebooted, Midnight Animation, and the children's section Animo. And just as every year, Anifilm also featured short films nominated for Academy Awards. The jurors personally introduced their film collections and their work in the world of animation and video games. The festival also included the mini-retrospective Taking Stock. To mark the festival's 25th anniversary, the programme brought back a series of films that had won awards in previous years' competitions.
However, the festival would not make any sense without the most important ingredient of all— the programme of this year's edition of Anifilm attracted more than 38,000 visitors.

She said about her approach to the festival identity: ‘Each mountain or dominant geological feature in the landscape has a story or legend connected to it. They have names, characters and are protagonists of many tales, be it Olympus, Říp, Golgotha or Vesuvius. They had been here before us and they will be here long after us. They have witnessed historical events, they are the destination of pilgrimages and a part of folk lore. The symbol of a mountain is the central motif of my visual identity for Anifilm 2026 and its logo."
