Anifilm Introduces the Festival Jingle
Anifilm’s visual style for this year was created by animators Michaela Mihalyiová and Dávid Štumpf. This duo attracted attention to themselves with their short film Sh_t Happens which competed at prestigious festivals such as Venice and Sundance and will be screened also in Liberec. You’ve already seen their festival visual style full of colours and joy and the festival jingle has the same spirit and is full of music, dancing and animation.

Eventful Animo in Lidové Sady
Anifilm’s programme for children, young viewers and their parents, traditionally called Animo, has found its place in Lidové sady in Liberec and will offer free entry. Our curators have put together a programme combining popular films with fresh Czech and international films. The visitors can look forward to two screening places offering amazing competition feature films, animated bedtime stories with sound by Ivo Špalj and original thematic blocks for little travellers and explorers. Our sub-section “Born in Liberec” will screen films Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Little Witch based on stories by Otfried Preußler who was born in Liberec. We cannot forget the work of two long-term supporters of our festival who have recently passed away: Katarína Minichová and Gene Deitch. From Wednesday to Saturday, the picturesque summerhouse of Lidové sady will host theatre performances for children and you will have a chance to make your own film there in our popular animation workshops.

CEE Animation Forum 2020 Online and Animation Espresso Live
Due to the pandemic, CEE Animation, international platform for film professional not only from Central and Eastern Europe will be taking place online. The core of the event will traditionally be the CEE Animation Forum, a competition of animated projects in development. Classic categories of short film, series/TV Special and feature film will newly be complemented by a category for VR projects. Even though the event will be held online, film professionals visiting Anifilm will be able to watch the pitching of all categories live in the festival centre in Chateau Liberec. The event will be screened on Tuesday 6th October and Wednesday 7th October in the morning. Czech animation professionals will not miss out the live element of pitching and networking. In collaboration with Anifilm, ASAF (Association of Czech Animation Film) has prepared a new pitching event for Czech projects in development – Animation Espresso. It is intended for animated films of all formats in development or preparation stages. Animation Espresso will follow the CEE Animation Forum and will be held on Tuesday 6th October in the afternoon in Chateau Liberec. Don’t hesitate and submit your projects by 31st August here.
