Delta Space Mission
12.30, Malé Theatre
The thrilling and disturbing story of Delta Space Mission is set in 3084. Humans have conquered interplanetary space, but the universe is still full of secrets. The state-of-the-art spaceship Delta is sent on an important exploration mission to a newly discovered galaxy. This ship has no captain; it’s controlled by an incredibly advanced electronic brain. But no one expected this artificial superintelligence to explore human feelings as well. It falls madly in love with interplanetary reporter Alma. The enamoured machine spins out of control and threatens everything in its way. This impressive and superbly animated feature film premiered in 1984, but with the recent rapid development of artificial intelligence, it is more topical than ever.
Chronopolis
18.30, North Bohemian Museum
Kamler’s only feature film is notable thanks to its precise machine-like stop-motion animation. It took him almost five years to finish the film which premiered in Cannes in 1982. That was, however, a 66-minute-long cut with commentary. A couple of years later, the director cut out several scenes and the final version was left without spoken word.
