I’m Here

Julia Orlik | Poland | 2020 | 15 min

An elderly man looks after his paralysed wife. His daughter helps him, trying to balance the care with her work in a hospital and her family life. Gen Tree

Ronni Shalev, Alon Sharabi, Hod Adler | Israel | 2020 | 4 min

In this humorous ani-doc, we see the metaphor of a family tree acquiring a tellingly literal nature. It seems that each generation lives on a different branch of the same tree. Students from Israel’s Bezalel Academy point out the absurdity of intergenerational misunderstandings and deal with childhood, adulthood and the influence of the internet.

Eikō

Colin Atthar | France | 2020 | 5 min

When a tabloid television station reveals a superhero film star is gay, the young actor is confronted not only with the reaction of the fans but also with his own concerns. The macho nature of his film alter ego complicates the entire situation even more and the struggle with homophobia in a heteronormative entertainment industry is not easy at all.

Meticulous and mesmerising paint-on-glass animation is characteristic for this atmospheric film by the Polish director, who takes us on a bus ride one Monday afternoon.
