We are Pleased to Present the Anifilm 2023 Jury Members

Anifilm juries will once again be composed of prominent personalities from the world of animation and gaming. The best games will be chosen by graphic designer Jakub Špiřík, illustrator and co-owner of Fairy Snail Games Zuzana Slavíková and Creative Director of Shedworks Gregorios Kythreotis, winner of last year’s Best Visual Art award for his game Sable, which he will personally present during his live gaming session at this year’s Anifilm. Best VR films, music videos and abstract and non-narrative animation will be chosen by VR projects specialist Mika Johnson from the US, known for his adaptation of Kafka’s Metamorphosis VRwandlung. The remaining jury members are Japanese artists Sarina Nihei whose unmistakeable style was inspired by Estonian animation, and Mirai Mizue, master of a colourful and captivating abstract animation. Both representatives of new acclaimed Japanese animation will lead masterclasses where they will introduce their work to Anifilm visitors. Jury of the Competitions of Short and Student Films is composed of Czech director and winner of last year’s Animorpha for the Best Czech Series (Snoozy the Badger) David Súkup, whose work will be presented in two programmes; Marta Pajek from Poland will introduce her acclaimed trilogy Impossible Figures and Other Stories; and renowned Belgian animator Kim Keukeleire, who worked of films such as Chicken RunThe Fantastic Mr. FoxFrankenweenieMy Life as Zucchini and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, will talk about her career in a masterclass. Who will win the Animorpha for the Best Feature Film for Children and Grown-ups will be determined by a jury composed of the following experts: British director John Stevenson, nominated for an Oscar for his film Kung Fu Panda, who will host a special programme at Anifilm. The dramaturge of the most prestigious festival of animated film in the world, the Annecy Festival, Sébastian Sperer, will bring a special selection of midnight films. Last but not least, the festival will welcome film publicist and chief editor of the culture section of Reflex weekly Veronika Bednářová.
