Masterclass: Jan Saska

This evening, one of this year’s jurors, director, animator and great comic book artist Jan Saska will personally present his work to our visitors at his masterclass, including his newest film Hurricane, which he is currently shooting.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Wes Anderson needs no introduction to film fans. Besides live-action movies, this eccentric director also occasionally makes animated films. His puppet feature film Fantastic Mr. Fox, which we are screening today at the Technical University of Liberec, is definitely worth the few extra steps it takes to get there. We are screening the film as part of our Animation & Humour-themed programme.

This poetic meditation is the first feature-length film by the phenomenal Koji Yamamura, a master of Japanese animation. The melancholic, visually mesmerising film features fascinating animation and is based on Yamamura’s drawings and texts created in response to the catastrophic earthquake that decimated Japan in 2011.
