Anifilm 2017 has its winners
The 2017 Anifilm International Festival of Animated Films is drawing to an end, and its winners have been decided on in all the competition categories. The jury of the International Competition of Animated Feature Films for Grown-ups awarded one of the foremost French authors Jean-François Laguionie for his poetic film Louise by the Shore. Special mention in this category went to the American author Dash Shaw and his film My Entire High School Sinking into the Sea based on Shaw’s own popular comic book. Best film in the International Competition of Animated Feature Films for Children was awarded to the Swiss-French film My Life as a Zucchini by the director Claude Barras which was previously awarded the Best European Animated Feature Film Award and nominated for the Academy Awards.
The winner of the International Competition of Animated Short Films is the Spanish director Alberto Vázquez with his film Decorado. Special mention went to the Hungarian film Balcony directed by David Dell’Edera.
The award for the best film in the International Competition of Student Animated Films will be heading to Poland. The jury awarded Renata Gąsiorowska for her film Pussy. But the jury’s special mention will be staying home in the Czech Republic - with Kateřina Karhánková from the Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague who competed with the film Fruits of Clouds.
The jury of the International Competition of Abstract and Non-Narrative Animation awarded the film Orogenesis by the French director Boris Labbé and special mention in this category was given to Vacancy by the German animator Urte Zintler. The award for the best animated music video in the International Competition of Music Videos went toHoji Tsuchiya for Uri Nakayama: Spring Time-Old Man.The Frenchduo Mrzyk & Moriceau received special mention for their music video The Avalanches: Subways.
Anifilm also introduced a new festival competition this year – the International Competition of Independent Computer Games. The award for best artwork was awarded to the Danish indie game developer Playdead for Inside, and the award for the best independent game for children and teenagers went to the Dutch author Adriaan de Jongh for Hidden Folks.
