LOVE

Réka Bucsi | Hungary, France | 2016 | 15 min

This ambitious film by independent Hungarian director Réka Bucsi is divided into three chapters. In very peculiar scenes, it depicts the life forms on a mystical planet where fauna and flora mingle way too much. Everything that happens here is closely connected to interplanetary relations and affects the whole planetary system.

Moczarski's Case

Tomasz Siwiński | Poland | 2016 | 5 min

The story of the latest, once again dark, film by Tomasz Siwiński follows Polish journalist Kazimierz Moczarski. During World War II, Moczarski was active in the anti-Nazi resistance and later recounted his experiences in the book Conversations with an Executioner. The director suggestively portrays the journalist’s encounter with an SS general responsible for crushing the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

Decorado

Alberto Vázquez | France, Spain | 2016 | 12 min

This short film by one of the directors of the unconventional feature film Psychonauts (2015) follows in the footsteps of its author’s previous work, both in terms of visual style and storytelling. The film shows the world as a stage with peculiar and almost horror-like characters in surreal scenes full of black humour.

It Would Piss Me Off To Die So Yoooooung...

Filipe Abranches | Portugal | 2016 | 17 min

For his latest film, Portuguese illustrator and comic artist Filipe Abranches chose the challenging theme of World War I. He managed to find a way to movingly, authentically and without excessive pathos portray the powerlessness of the troops forced to carry out missions in extreme conditions. Their resolve to fight for their country soon changes into disappointment.

Household Pets

Jean Lecointre | France | 2016 | 23 min

This visually refreshing stylized film with dialogues is reminiscent of Ionesco’s comedies. The Archibalds adopt various domestic animals without having the slightest clue about how to take care of pets. They would like to impress their friends with their small household zoo, but their efforts get out of hand.
