Anifilm became a member of the prestigious group of Cartoon d’Or Partner Festivals. Successful films from these festivals are nominated for the pan-European award for the best animated short film of the year. The award has since 1991 been awarded by the Brussels association CARTOON – European Association of Animation Film with the support of the Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme. It is given only to the best of the best since only prize-winning films from the Cartoon d’Or Partner Festivals can compete. From this shortlist, a jury of international experts will choose five finalists and a winner. Beginning with next year, the list will include also films successful in Třeboň.
As usual, Anifilm will screen this year’s Cartoon d’Or finalists. They include films that are already known from Třeboň such as the Dutch film A Single Life and the film The Bigger Picture, whose director Daisy Jacobs won the award for the best student film at last year’s Anifilm. Also the festival hit Coda by the Irish director Allan Holly is included.
